How to choose the right musical instrument before you start music lessons

Different people have different approaches to life – some are more physical, some like to think about things, some like to be gentle, others strong – and this is what makes one musical instrument more appropriate for one person, and less for another.

If you (or your child) learns an instrument that really suits them then you can expect fast progress, and a lot more enjoyment.  Conversely on something that doesn’t suit so well you can expect it to be harder and less fun.

That doesn’t mean you can’t learn other instruments.  Anyone can learn any instrument if they stick at it long enough, but it is just easier and more enjoyable with something closely suited to you.
